About Grassroots Sheffield | Championing Local Music & Unsigned Artists in Sheffield

Who We Are

Grassroots Sheffield is a community-driven music project dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and platforming the best unsigned and emerging artists that Sheffield has to offer. Born from a passion for the city’s rich musical heritage, we shine a spotlight on the grassroots sound that makes Sheffield one of the most vibrant and creative cities in the UK.

We believe that great music doesn’t start on a major label — it starts in bedrooms, rehearsal rooms, open mic nights, and community halls across Sheffield. Our mission is to give that music the audience it deserves.

Our Story

Grassroots Sheffield grew out of a simple but powerful idea: Sheffield’s music scene is extraordinary, and it deserves a dedicated platform. By attending open mic nights, partnering with educational institutions, and embedding ourselves in the city’s creative community, we’ve helped countless artists take their next step — from intimate local venues to main stages in front of thousands.

We’ve been recognised by Best of Sheffield as one of the top five places for unsigned music artists in the city — a testament to the impact our community has made. Artists like Georgie Mills, who went on to open BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, and Lexi Whiteside, known for her electric live performances, have been part of the Grassroots family.

Grassroots Sheffield — Where Local Music Lives and Thrives

We are proud to be part of Sheffield’s creative heartbeat. Every event we run, every artist we feature, and every workshop we deliver is a step toward a more connected, celebrated, and sustainable local music scene.
